Interim Sec 24 March 2009
Present: Asam Bashir, Martin Dove, Sailesh Raithatha and Chris Barker.
Purpose: to discuss the full establishment of the Cambridge Macintosh Users’ Group – “caMMac”.
General
- Discussed the nature of the Group: it would be a hybrid Apple User Group and UCam Society.
- The Group would need a constitution. Chris had amended one from OxMUG and would place it on iWork.com for comment by the others present. We would look at others from Cambridge Societies that Asam had produced.
- Martin agreed to be Senior Treasurer, anticipating the later appointment of Junior Treasurers to ease his admin burden.
- Martin would need to open a bank account; details of how and with what funds would be decided in due course.
- The Committee members of the Group would use the Apple group to communicate.
- Aim for one per month, eventually.
- We would not want to duplicate courses run by the Cambridge Apple Store.
- First ideas: a Fink evening and Darwin ports.
- We would need a closed internal mailing list for caMMac officials, perhaps with a dot Mac list or one on Ucam servers. He would arrange one by the next meeting.
- A shared iCal to show meetings and events would be useful, perhaps linked from the caMMac website.
Publicity
- Sailesh would consider ways to generate publicity; he knew someone who could build a logo and would consult them.
- Including approaching the Apple Store in Cambridge to determine their attitude to the formation of the Group.
- The website would need developing to build content and progress to Web 2.0 environment; we would need a Members’ area behind a password. Chris promised to start this process.
The next meeting would take place at 1830 on Tuesday 31 March 2009 at CB2.
