I’ve managed to finish Glyder from Glu, on my iPhone. It’s an excellent game in which you can glide for ages, discovering new lands. It helps that it’s over the sea and that the scenery appears in full texture at quite a distance. Altitude and speed are relative values rather than absolute (you don’t know exactly what they are or even the units used), but they give a good impression of what you are doing and what to aim for. All the areas of interest are well modelled, and nothing is tediously realistic, but the flying is quite real-to-life. I am a pilot, albeit of powered aircraft, and flight characteristics of the Glyder are refreshingly familiar. I love the thermals, the power boost crystals and the tests of coordination that flying through caverns and honeycombs pose.
Now that I’ve finished, I’m trying my hand at Flight Control from Firemint ...
